A 2008 Corvette Z06 with its rear transaxle out: a rebuilt TR6060, a dual-friction clutch and new flywheel, a rear main seal, and a new axle-back exhaust.
The C6 Z06 puts its six-speed at the back of the car, bolted to the differential as a transaxle. That is great for weight balance and a lot of work when the transmission needs attention: the exhaust comes off and the whole rear cradle comes down before the TR6060 is anywhere near a bench.
This red Z06 came to me in late summer 2021 for exactly that. With the cradle out, the TR6060 was rebuilt to handle 550 lb-ft, and the clutch got done while everything was apart: a Centerforce dual-friction clutch and pressure plate, a new flywheel on ARP hardware, and new throwout and pilot bearings. The rear main seal plate got replaced too, since it was right there.
Out back it got a new axle-back exhaust and all four hanger bushings, after extracting the exhaust bolts that had broken off. It also got a new intake clamp, a new oil cooler line gasket, and fresh fluids. The engine, transmission, subframe, and differential were cleaned while they were out, mouse nests included.
In 2022 it came back for the shift feel: an MGW short shifter, a new shift rod, and an adjustable clutch master cylinder.
